Title:
L&N CNX
Description:
On the Sunday before Christmas 1964 Louisville & Nashville
EXTRA 661 SOUTH
was entering the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal
EASTERN CONNECTION
at East City Junction. For many years the L&N operated southbound
CNX
- and northbound
NCX
- mail and express extras between Cincinnati and New Orleans during the Christmas Season. These trains were typically 15-20 cars long and ran with a caboose. The tracks on the left belonged to the Southern Railway's New Orleans Terminal Co., and that was East City Tower on the extreme left. The train was four miles from its destination at NOUPT, and the photo was taken with a plastic Kodak
STARMETER
camera.
