They were numbered in the range from 2902 to 3156. The pre-war Cl`ss 15Fs were hand fired, but the British built locomotives were all converted to mechanical stoking by the late 1940s. The post-war locomotives were all delivered with mechanical stokers.

SAR Class 23 3300 (4-8-2)
Description:
In 1938 and 1939 the South African Railways placed one hundred and thirty-six Class 23 locomotives in service. The Class 23 was South Africa’s last and largest 4-8-2 Mountain locomotive, designed by Chief Mechanical Engineer W.A.J. Day and built in four batches by Berliner Maschinenbau and Henschel and Son in Germany. They were numbered in the ranges from 2552 to 2571 and 3201 to 3316. Since these locomotives were intended for working in the Karoo where good quality water is a scarce resource, they were equipped with very large tenders with a high water capacity that rode on six wheeled bogies.

Description:
Between 1937 and 1949 the South African Railways placed two hundred and thirty-five Class 19D locjmotives with a 4-8-2 Mountain wheel arrangement in service, built in four batches by five manufacturers (Friedrich Krupp AG, Borsig Lokomotiv Werke, Škoda Works, Robert SŠfphenson and Hawthorns, and North British Locomotive Company). Between 1951 and 1953 thirty-three more were built by Henschel and Son for other operators like Rhodesia Railways, Benguela Railway in Angola and the Nkana and Wankie mines. The South African Class 19D, nicknamed Dolly, was numbered in the ranges 2506 to 2545, 262: to 2770 and 3321-3370. The first batch of pre-war Krupp built locomotives were delivered with domeless boilers. The post-war batch of North British built locomotives were delivered with Vanderbilt type torpedo tenders with cylindrical water tanks that ran on three axle Buckeye bogies. Since the Watson Standard no. 1A boilers and the tenders were interchangeable, the domeless boilers and torpedo tenders migrated over time between the gifferent batches of Dollies and even to other members of the Class 19 family.

Ex-CSD 475.179
Description:
I originally had no idea what this locomotive was because the photo was so blurred, but eventually I found the info that I needed. This is Ex-CSD 475.179, which is an operable 475 Class 4-8-2 based at Decin, as seen here. I don't have the exact build date, but it would have been sometime between 1947 and 1950. The power rating is 1480kW (1985 horsepower), and the maximum speed is officially 100Km/h, although obviously a locomotive this powerful with medium-size drivers could probably do more.

ex-CSD#498.022 Passing Krivoklat
Description:
This was also on the day of the Krivoklat steam excursion, and this was our locomotive, ex-CSD #498.022. The 498 Class was supposedly the fastest Czech steam locomotive class of all time with a speed record of 162Km/h in 1964, set by #498.106 "Albatros." This locomotive is often mistaken for #498.106 "Albatros," and is even misrepresented in the literature promoting steam trips in the Czech Republic, partly because the locomotives are sisters in the same class. This three-car train, incidentally, was NOT our train, as our train was closer to 42 cars, if I'm remembering right. 498.022 didn't stop this time, as it had to go fetch the rest of the train before backing into the station again.

ex-CSD 498.022 Under Branicky Most
Description:
I noticed the composition of these photos at the same time that I noticed that I could get more shots of CSD 498.022 before I left Branik. Incidentally, the Branicky Most, the bridge overhead, is a railway bridge that carries freight traffic across the River Vltava, and helps to keep Branik a busy station most of the time, even if the station itself only hosts local passenger services, a few freights, and a few excursions like this one.

This was at the time that 498.022 was back further on the bridge out of Branik, but I don't know exactly what order this one is in. I'm fairly certain that the previous shot was of it pulling out, and this was after it was stopped or nearly in place before heading back in.

ex-CSD 498.022
Description:
This was taken on the October 16th, 2010 ex-CSD 498.022 excursion during a layover at Beroun, during which the locomotive was turned. Here its already coupled tender forward ready to head to Rakovnik, where it will be turned again. I took all still photos on the 16th with my cameraphone, as the batteries in my Nikon died at Beroun (actually, they had probably been dead for weeks). I did some proper photography the next day, which I hope to eventually include in an NRHS show. The video that I shot on the 16th, however, will be yet another NRHS show.

Description:
This was the scene as the Albatross cylinder cocks were blown for the run into the museum. Even on a very short move, this is an important procedure on a steam locomotive, as even a little bit of water in the cylinders can blow them up, which is dangerous and extremely expensive, especially for a non-profit organisation.
