Album Info:Passenger coaches and other passenger train rolling stock used in mainline service. They are being shown here in four groups: the oldies with all wooden bodies, those with the later sheathed wooden bodies, the all metal group with peaked roofs, and then the all metal modern ones with smooth rounded roofs which I have arranged in three (arbitrary and unofficial) series. Blue Train and Phelophepa coaches and the cabooses are also included. .....oo..oo..oo..... With coaches and cabooses where the two sides are rarely identical, I treated the compartment/toilet side as Side A. With baggage cars and other coaches where the two sides are virtually identical, I treated the side on which the brake wheel is mounted to the right of centre, as Side B. .....oo..oo..oo..... Data Source: South African Railways, Types of Main Line Coaches, 1065mm/3'6" Gauge, by the Chief Mechanical Engineer's Drawing Office (Kindly supplied to me by Sue Lawrence in Australia).
